The Chat Lab is the first project developed by FIDU. It is a AI chat model interface allowing users to make use of a large range of AI Chatbots from a range of providers, while keeping all their conversation histories and other data generated during their chats not bound to the provider of each model. The ChatLab allowed users to store their conversations, along with collections of re-usable conversation contexts, system prompts, and other advanced chat concepts, encrypted on their personal Google Drive. Never saved on FIDU servers, and not readable by Google, and by enforcing the use of models with Zero Data Retention policies, the ChatLab ensured that users’ data remained in their hands only.

As well as powerful tool, the Chat Lab served as an early proof of concept of what user data control and portability could look like, actively stepping away from platform lock in, and offering the option of greater control and awareness of data for those who want it.

The ChatLab is available to all FIDU supporters with set usage limits depending on their paid tier, with one off credit top ups available via the Members Portal.
