Tech & Roadmap

FIDU is building technology infrastructure to give individuals control over their digital lives as agents become the primary way we interact with digital services. Agents will soon handle everything from coordinating your community to managing your career to curating your information. But that power is consolidating.

In the next 12-18 months, Apple, Google, and Meta will try to close the open agent space with platforms designed to extract value from your data. FIDU is helping to build the alternative: security infrastructure and real-world community tools that make the open agent ecosystem as trustworthy and useful as the platforms  –  before the window closes.

OUR JOURNEY

Foundation (2025-2026)

FIDU Chat Lab  –  We spent the last year building and testing the control layer for your LLM interactions. You can manage your chat histories, port them to any LLM you choose, and keep them in your Google Drive. Your data. Your choice.

This foundation gave us a working membership, progress on a governance model, and technical infrastructure we’re now building on as we move into the agent ecosystem.

Phase 1: Security Infrastructure (Q2-Q3 2026)

Agentic Security Tool (Name TBD) –  A security tool for personal agentic AI platforms like OpenClaw protecting against malicious behaviour, powered by a centralised, community curated library of ever growing attack patterns. Protection against prompt injection, tool spoofing, memory poisoning, and emerging threats. If open agents can’t match the safety of platform alternatives, people will choose the platforms. We’re closing that gap.

Consent Management System  –  Structured, granular control over what data your agents can access and how they can use it. Your agents work for you, not the other way around.

Phase 2: Community-Led Agentic Tools (Q3 2026 – Q1 2027)

Real tools solving real problems in real communities, before the platforms lock the door.

We’re co-developing agentic infrastructure with community groups who know what they need. Early partners include civic organisations, local information networks, and creative practitioners. Together we’re building tools that work for real people, not algorithms.

Phase 3: Data Infrastructure (Extended Timeline – TBC)

Secure data vault for member data storage

Consent management system for data sharing

Data union governance dashboard

Integration with existing data sources

Phase 4: Collective Benefits (6-12 months from Phase 3 – TBC)

Data marketplace for collective bargaining

Privacy-preserving analytics tools

Member-driven research and data projects

Partnerships with ethical data users

Phase 5: Ecosystem (12+ months from Phase 4 – TBC)

FIDU-Vault: Open source data union platform

FIDU-Apps: Member-developed applications

Inter-union collaboration and data sharing

Global data union network

TECHNOLOGY PRINCIPLES

Our technology is designed with data-control-first principles, using open standards and building on existing open-source tools. We believe in transparency and community-driven development.

WHY NOW

The agentic web is open. Protocols are maturing. The infrastructure is possible. But the moment closes fast. Apple, Google, and Meta are already launching managed agent platforms  –  competently and for now, helpfully. We need to keep the window of openness, decentralisation and community control open.

FIDU’s purpose is unchanged: acting with absolute loyalty to its members’ data interests. What’s changed is our clarity on where that purpose has the most leverage. We’re moving fast while the opportunity still exists.

Let’s not wait for the perfect solution – already today, we can build what’s needed to avoid being farmed & harvested.
